The 3-D animated video made it appear the basketball court had "opened" to an
overhead view of several menacing alligators circling underwater to the "Jaws"
theme, and flaunted Florida’s recent victories and 2006-2007 NCAA Tournament
titles, before one alligator reared its head with a growl and the floor's
appearance returned to normal.

The Florida Gators' big win against the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team
Saturday wasn’t the only thing fans were hyped about after the buzzer.

Before the Gators stormed the court, the UF Athletic Association debuted a
pregame projection show onto the court that left fans busily chattering about
it on social media.

Alicia Longworth, assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions at
the University Athletic Association, said creating the pregame treat was a
3-year-long process. And it wasn’t until she received funding from the UAA's
innovation committee in November 2016 that her team was able to get the ball
rolling to create the display.

The marketing and promotions team worked with Orlando-based On Event Services
for about two months to create the video and rent the necessary equipment to
project it onto the court. Longworth said four projectors had to be installed
in the O’Connell Center ceiling, and it cost more than $20,000 to put on the
spectacle.

Longworth said her team does different things each year to amp up the crowd.

“One of our main goals as a marketing people is to make the fan experience the
best it can be,” she said.

In the past, they've handed out light sticks or put on laser displays, but
Longworth said Saturday night's display is the next big thing.

Although she'd like to use the same show at future games, Longworth said the
marketing and promotions team doesn't yet have the funding to support it.

“We hope that in the future, that will include more court projections or
whatever the next innovative idea may be,” she said.

I wonder how much the equipment costs to buy, we should have something like
that at every home game and perhaps other events.
