What a satisfying win last night. It got a little testy there in the first half.

But, the Mighty Gators killed them later.

13 of 16 free throws? What happened, practice?

Some observations following Florida’s 72-60 win at Georgia on Tuesday night:

— Kasey Hill and Chris Chiozza were pests defensively all night for the Gators,
combining for six steals against Georgia. Florida coach Mike White said he felt
Hill and Chiozza’s pressure on the ball made it difficult for Georgia to get
into its halfcourt offense in the second half.

— Florida continues to show maturity at the free-throw line, making 13 of 16 to
help pull away from Georgia in the second half. Two big ones came from Florida
center John Egbunu to put Florida up 61-50 with 5:12 left. It began a stretch
of six straight free throws that continued with two in a row from point guard
Kasey Hill and two in a row from the always reliable Canyon Barry, who has now
made 35 straight.

— Florida redshirt freshman Keith Stone was rusty shooting the ball in his
return from sitting out two games with a viral illness, going 0 of 4 from the
floor and air-balling a 3. But the 6-foot-8 Stone helped in other ways,
grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing an assist on a Barry 3-pointer. Stone played 15
minutes because with Justin Leon in foul trouble, White needed to go with a
bigger body to defend Georgia forwards Yante Maten and Derek Ogbeide inside.
Stone handled that challenge by consistently contesting shots inside.
