So much wrong in this message. A 2-18 record at Mississippi
State and many of those games were very competitive. Have you watched Miss St
play? They just run it up the middle? While his team this year is run heavy it
certainly isn’t the dive plays we are used to. Also, he has shown he will
adapt to his players skill set - remember Chris Leak?
My take on this coaching search - there are a lot of quality candidates out
there, all with their own set of pros and cons. Chip was obviously the #1
choice, but he went elsewhere. Frost wasn’t willing to talk to us. So we could
go after other proven coaches - Taggart, Leach, Strong, Gundy none of which
are anymore proven than Mullen, particularly in the SEC. or we could have gone
after an up and comer like Norvell, Morris, Frost but then we are just hoping
they can replicate their success here.
Neuheisel had a great comment on the radio this morning talking about th young
coaches. He said it’s easy to look good when everyone stays healthy, but if
you coach long enough, you will run into those years where you lose 5 starters.
How good of a coach are you then?
Mullen wasn’t my first choice, but he is now my Coach and I will support him
100%. Does he have his flaws and areas I hope he improves, sure he does and I
can’t wait to see him evolve.
Go Gators!

Also a 2-18 record against top 25 teams. Here’s my concern, and articulated by
someone in another forum. I understand it was a safe hire, but I do not
understand the $70m for eight years that’s being reported. We’re not going to
be able to fire him. But the main thing is this:
Stricklin promised us he would put the fun back in Gator football, and hired a
coach that will plow it up the middle 50% of the time. Our passing game will
remain in the stone age. We can't afford to fire him. It doesn't make you a
bad fan if you have a little common sense and see where this is headed.

According to the Orlando Sentinel Mullen has 3 nine win seasons at MSU. In
their history they had 2 nine win seasons before Mullen.
MSU has the second lowest sports budget in the SEC, to Vanderbilt.
Mullen considered them to be a “developmental team”, meaning they had to bring
in “potential” talent and make them better players.
They have been to 8 bowl games in a row under Dan Mullen. No one has ever
accomplished this at MSU.
Mullen’s offense at Florida was #6 in the country the year he was hired at MSU,
#1 in the SEC.
There are a lot of reasons to hire Mullen at Florida if we just look at the
stats.

Yes, a number of recruits were going to leave the class regardless. But I
disagree. Dan Mullen is not a good coach. IMO we will never be more than
mediocre under him (8 occasionally 9 win seasons) and will be looking for a new
coach in 4-5 years. While he has had a few good seasons, he has a losing SEC
record and I don't think he has ever coached in the SEC Championship Game as a
head coach. This is a horrible choice.

No one thought all this class would stay to the end.
It could be worse. We could still have McElwain. Or, we could have Kelly,
another self absorbed head case.
Florida has never in its existence hired a new coach before the end of the
season. We’ll get a coach. And, he will be a good one.

Florida’s 38-22 loss to Florida State Saturday wasn’t their only one of the
night.
Jacob Copeland, the No. 7-ranked wide receiver in the 2018 class by 247Sports,
announced via Twitter his de-commitment from the University of Florida.
Copeland committed to the Gators on Aug. 2, but has continued taking recruiting
visits throughout his senior year, most notably to Alabama.
With Copeland’s de-commitment, the Gators have 16 verbal commitments in the
2018 class.
