I wasn’t worried too much. But, when Andy Kennedy resigned, Mike White was the logical first thought since he played point guard there in 95? 96?
I still don’t get why Kennedy resigned. They aren’t doing so great this year, but he’s the winningest coach they’ve ever had. And I’m not interested in any other job.” White is 65-32 in two-plus seasons as Florida coach. Last year, the 40-year-old coach guided UF to its ninth Elite Eight appearance in school history. Last spring, White signed a contract extension through 2023 that pays him in average annual salary of $2.75 million per year. White worked under Kennedy from 2006-11 at Ole Miss and is sad to see one of his mentors stepping down. “He’s attracted good talent,” White said. “He’s obviously been really good to me. He retained me there. I was out of a job in Oxford, and I was working for Coach (Rod) Barnes and he retained me and he gave me an opportunity. I learned a lot from him.
