Thrissur doctor wins Rs 50 lakh at KBC show

With his wife Vineetha clapping from the gallery, Varghese got a big hug from the Big B even as a golden yellow Rs 50,00,000 twinkled on the black screen. It was a big moment for Kerala and Varghese.
He, however, decided to quit when the going was good when asked the Rs 1-crore question.
The question wanted Varghese to identify who or what was depicted on
the first postage stamp issued in
``I know it's not C and D (Map of India and National Emblem). I know Mahatma Gandhiji's photo was on one of the first stamps. But it was not the first one,'' he said as Bachchan watched with a meaningful smile.
A few minutes later, Varghese made up his mind and announced he was not ready for the Rs 1 crore bait. The Big B went on prompting, reminding him about the prize money at stake. But the doctor didn't want to take a chance and said he was quitting.
After a round of claps and formal congrats, Bachchan urged the doctor to announce his guess. ``I think, it's National Flag,'' he said even as computerji locked the answer in yellow and green to send a wave of
frustration on the doctor's face.
Even Bachchan couldn't hide his surprise. ``Oh doctorji, you knew the answer. It was the national flag that was depicted on the first postage stamp released on November 21, 1947,'' he said as he walked up to give Varghese a big hug.
But, for the Thrissur doctor, it was a moment of glory. Earlier, Divya Damodaran, another Malayali doctor, from Neeleswaram had bagged Rs 25 lakh at the Kaun Banega Crorepati show
