Hi Sagar,

It's not sensible to give advise to some one whom you don't know (at all) as you can't take into consideration the most important attribute namely "personality". However following general guidelines might be of some help in arriving at a decision.

Ask yourself following two questions.

1. What do you like about your current job?

2. What do you dislike about your current job?

Against each question, jot down as many points coming to your mind as possible.

If answer to second question is a list of work (place) related things such as not as per your qualifications/experience, no growth opportunities, insufficient remuneration, stupid boss, politics, discrimination of some kind etc., you should consider changing your current job to make it more satisfying / meaningful.

However, if your dislikes are related to the work itself and you have started feeling as if you're dragging yourself from one day to another, a career change is probably necessary.

In that case, you should consider following aspects.

* What would you really like to do?

* Whether you can concurrently pursue your dreams while continuing in present job

* Whether your skills and qualifications support the career in mind? Has your talent (as scrip writer / director) been proven (say at school/college/amateur level) or it's just your presumption that you have it in you?

* Your financial standing vis-à-vis responsibilities/obligations. How much time you can grant to yourself for setting in new career?

* Your mental makeup and emotional support needed/available

As you will start weighing above aspects, confusion/dilemma will gradually diminish and you could reach an informed decision (instead of impulsive plunge).

Hope this is of some help.

Wishing you best of luck.

Regards

Samir
