Dear all, I read the suggested amendments. I am in favour of the amendments. This is how I read it.
1] It is not gender neutral. It talks specifically of male on female sexual assault. This is desirable and in line with the demands of many feminist lobby. 2] It specifically creates a sexual assault crime against minors (both male and female), a longstanding demand of both the LGBT community, the chlid-rights campaigners, and many feminist organisations. 3] It retains 377, which in the light of the amendments above and the Delhi High Court's read down interpretation, would continue to criminalise non-consensual sex between males. Again desirable and needed. Personally I see no reason to interfere with the suggested amendments as they stand today.
