Hi Gupreet and others, It is not a correct assessment that a fair majority of gay guys do not like bearded sikhs. What is at play here is a notion of masculinity that most people grow up with as a result of cultural indoctrination from early childhood that accords certain traits to 'men' and certain others to 'women' and then these get embedded in our minds as stereotypes.
Having a beard is one of the traits for 'men'. Being a 'top' who fucks is another trait for 'men'. Our minds have ascribed these roles to 'men' and we are pretty ridgid in not wanting to deviate from the 'notion'. Therefore many fem/bottom/passive gay guys are quiet happy to be with a sikh guy who is a top. This role of a top does not jar with the image of the 'man' in their minds, the 'man' who is hairy and who fucks. The problem arises when the bearded sikh (or any other) guy is a bottom. Then there is a conflict of images created by the stereotype in our minds. So many are not comfortable with such guys. This affects these bottom guys especially badly for the partners that they are looking for are 'tops', and the tops also carry the same stereotype in their heads and therefore are not 'keen' to engage sexually with the bottom bearded. THerefore I can understand the predicament of Gurpreet, who says he is 'bot' and is bearded. Hope that helps explain some bits of what is a rather complex situation.
