For the record, on 27 March 2026 the Governing Board unanimously approved an interim policy on the use of generative AI tools in the OpenJDK Community.
The Board first discussed the need for such a policy in 2024 [1] and again in early 2025. The Board agreed to have these discussions off the record due to the sensitive nature of the topic, and its potential legal implications. The vote on the policy was also, therefore, confidential.
