Its DHCP and I'm using the DNS address that GBL returns after getting
an ip.
How come late dns replies come from a proxy at a different ipfrom the
name server?
I don't have time this a.m to check with a box directly but I'll check
that out this evening, though I doubt it will tell different from GBL.
What do you make of the every 20 seconds for a week and then suddenly
stopping?

Sure looks like late replies from DNS.  Is your GNAT Box set
up static or DHCP?  If it's set up DHCP, you might want to
connect a Windows or a Linux system up to the cable modem
long enough to boot and see what address the DHCP server is
giving your for a DNS server.
