Hi,

We are setting up an email proxy on our PSN that will
pass smtp traffic to our mail server on the PRO.

The details of our ntwork are:

EXT: 203.44.223.0
PSN: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
PRO: 192.168.3.0/255.255.255.0

e-mail proxy: 192.168.1.10 (on PSN)
mail server: 192.168.3.10 (on PRO)

By default, I cannot initiate traffic from the PSN to the
PRO, so need to use IP Pass Through.

The way I have done this is to do the following:

IP Pass Through section > Hosts/Networks:
Object: <Use IP address>
IP address: 192.168.1.10 (this is the proxy)
Mask: 255.255.255.255
Interface: Protected
Inbound: not ticked

No IP Pass Through filters are set up for this.

If I do this, I can send smtp, ping, et al. from the proxy to
the mail server (192.168.3.10), and I can get to the
internet from the proxy.
Although everything works, I have an error on the
Hosts/Networks option stating that "Destination is
protected interface".

I then enabled two IP Pass Through filters, one that
allowed smtp from the proxy to the mail server and a
subsequent filter that blocked everything else from the
proxy to the mail server. this worked, too.

What I would like to know is:
1. Is this the right way to do it? if not, what would be a
better way?
2. Do I need to worry about the error on the IP Pass
Through Hosts/Networks option?

Thanks,

Adrian
