Hi Everyone,

I just installed GNAT box into another machine using an existing D-Link
530TX and
the DEC 204 NIC and both DHCP and static IP configurations work, sort of.

The only problem that showed up during the boot process was GNAT Box's inability
to set the MTU value of the DEC NIC (the external NIC) to 1500. An invalid
argument
error displayed. In DHCP mode, the GNAT Box successfully searches for, and
is given
an IP address, it finds the gateway, DNS server, and recognizes the domain.
An IP lease
length is also displayed.

The present throughput of the GNAT Box is EXTREMELY slow. I am guessing this
might be
attributed to the improper MTU setting. When I hit <ALT><F3> and watch the
stats I see that
the throughput drops to <1kb/s. Any ideas?

Anyway, it is obvious that I have some hardware issues to deal with,
especially with the
486 box. I have no intentions of using the GNAT Box software with the
current computer
so I am going to have to work on the 486 setup some more. Any ideas on where
I should
concentrate my time? I have almost no experience with Free BSD so I'm not
sure what
hardware compatibility issues it is most finicky with.

Regards,
Mark St.George
