I have been using GB Lite 3.0.3 for a few months now at my house with my
cable modem without many problems.

However, my cable provider just recently changed their addressing scheme and
Gnatbox doesn't seem to like it. Previously my provider just used a
standard class C addressing scheme along with the standard class C netmask
(255.255.255.0), all of course being assigned by DHCP.

Now however they have switched over to a classes netmask (255.255.252.0),
again being assigned by DHCP. My assigned IP address (xxx.xxx.178.xxx) and
the default gateway address (xxx.xxx.176.xxx) are in 2 different class C
networks, but as you can see are perfectly legal with the given netmask.

The problem is, if I let DHCP assign the address and default gateway, the
default gateway is never set correctly, hence I can not get anywhere on the
Internet because Gnatbox does not have a valid default route. Looking at
the messages when Gnatbox is booting the correct address and gateway are
assigned by the messages, but no traffic is allowed (no route to host).
HOWEVER, if I then manually set the IP address and default gateway,
everything works correctly!

Anyone else seen this problem? Obviously I need to switch back to DHCP
quickly if I do lose my lease, but without a default route it is useless.

Andy
