You can just get OpenSSH (free, works great) on just about any Unix server,
and for the host side, if you're running Unix that works fine as well.  If
you're running Windows, you can use PuTTY (free) or check out

Thanks everyone,

I think that SSH is the way to go. I'll contact my UNIX administrator to
insure that SSH is on that UNIX server and configured and then it's off to
evaluate some SSH-integrated X-windows clients.
