My first guess would be that the email server is trying to do a
reverse DNS lookup on the host that is opening the imap port.

When the email server is on the PRO network, the lookup succeeds
and the transfer goes as expected. When the email server is on
the PSN the lookup fails. This isn't a problem in itself, but
the amount of time that the email server spends waiting for the
DNS response may be causing your imap timeout.

This is PROBABLY simple, but ...

I am running an e-mail server on the PSN (NOT using the GB SMTP Proxy)
and I've found that requests for e-mail downloads from the IMAP4 service
run unbearably slow and generally time-out before completion when they
come from an EXT connected computer. They run fine on PRO connections.

What I don't understand is what would simply cause a huge delay. My
understanding was that packets were either accepted or rejected, not
"detained". Have I screwed up the GB configuration somewhere?
Where should I start looking?

Thanks in advance...
