"Netbios over TCP/IP" was already enabled. I've made test browsing computer by IP and not by Name. If you can connect to 2000 machines on the other side of the GB, then this seems likely. For 9x : Open the Control panel, and open the Network applet. Open the TCP/IP entry ( if you have an ethernet and a modem, open the entry that relates to the Network card ). Under one of the tabs (advanced I think), there is a checkbox labelled something like "Use netbios over TCP/IP" Make sure this is ticked and restart the machine.. For NT : I don't recall what you need to do.
