Andrew, What can you swap to see if things change? Newer image? Network cards? The PC itself. There could be some odd interaction. Since it's something concerning the Internet interface that appears to be behaving oddly, what about simply swapping the EXT NIC with either the of the other two (it's an easy thing to do) for starters and see if anything changes. It's a long shoot but who knows?
