Like everyone else, my email server has been getting flooded with SPAM in
the past couple of months. I want to implement the email proxy option of
our GB-100 but have a configuration question.
Here's the configuration. Inbound external mail on port 25 hits the GnatBox
directing mail to Norton Antivirus for Gateways running on port 8888.
Norton Antivirus for Gateways scans email then passes it to a Sendmail
server on port 25 where internal clients retrieve email.
There is an alias on the GnatBox for the external mail server IP address and
then an inbound tunnel for that alias which points port 25 traffic to port
8888. Norton Antivirus for Gateways then redirects the mail to Sendmail on
port 25.
ext. mail -----> Gnatbox -------> NAV for Gateways --------> Sendmail
ext. IP:25 10.x.x.x:8080 10.x.x.x:25
Here's my question. If I enable the email proxy on the Gnatbox, where does
it fall into my current scheme? That is, what do I enter in the email proxy
page as my primary email server? Can I specify an IP address with a port
number on the email proxy page? Does the email proxy take routing
precedence? If so, I would assume I need to remove my inbound tunnel
directing traffic from port 25 to port 8888.
I realize there are a lot of questions here but I'm sure someone is running
a similar configuration and can help me out.
Thanks in advance,
Matt Repko
