Why not make the entire archive challenge/response authentication based?

This way, only GTA users can gain access.

It may be a bit more painful for some, but worth while in my opinion.

Certianly it's possible to work around the reply method that
mail-archive.com uses.

I'm not so sure that a spammer would need to do that, though, since so
many mailing list messages include full email addresses in the body of
the
mail. Often in the signature, but even if you carefully keep your email
address of the signature you'll find that someone will include it in a
quote:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg03625.html

Again, I hope to be able to obfuscate all email addresses for our
archives
when I get them online.

Would people prefer simple obfuscation or would they prefer something
that
leaves the email address entirely unusable?

For example, I could change [EMAIL PROTECTED] to:

spam_at_gta_dot_com

or I could just drop the domain entirely:

spam_at

The first would allow the address to be interpreted and would leave a
way
for a future archive reader to contact you directly regarding an issue
you've posted or asked about. On higher volume lists this is
particularly
helpful since it helps prevent repeat questions, or questions for
clarification, from coming to the list without new content.

The second would require that anyone wanting more information about the
contents of a message found in the archive would be forced to send the
question to the list.

Comment, suggestions?
