Can someone please explain how the DNS proxy is supposed to work? 'Cause it
doesn't seem to work the way I expected it to.
We am using the GB1000 with version 3.4.0 software. Our mainframe is on the
protected interface, the WAN connecting to our main office is on the PSN, and
the internet on the external. Under Basic Configuration, DNS, I have an
external nameserver on the internet and our main internal nameserver across
the WAN is the internal. This appears to be working fine, as the filter
alerts have the IP numbers resolved to names.
My goal in using the DNS proxy is to reduce the traffic going across the WAN.
I assumed that with the configuration above, I could enable the DNS proxy,
allow protected network access, and configure the mainframe to use the GB
internal network address as its nameserver. As this doesn't work, I guess I'm
making some king of error here....
