Regretfully no. For reasons beyond my fathoming, we have to use Lotus Notes on a Windows machine for all external email, and they've set up the Notes server to add this trailer (which as you correctly point out, doesn't make much sense in a lot of contexts.) It's particularly painful, because there is no development environment on the Windows machine, so I have to ftp any code samples to and from the Solaris boxes. Next time, I'll wait until I'm at home to report an error; my Linux box doesn't have any of these problems:-).
