Check config.log to see what went wrong ...
The -mieee option should have worked. You will need to look at the
config.log file to see what went wrong.

It seems to be a bug, because on Kernel 2.4 I was able to compile the
tool.
If this worked on a different kernel with the same compiler version,
then that indicates a kernel bug.
