gfc_add_external and gfc_add_intrinsic do actually the right thing. However, they are not used in decl.c's gfc_match_external: gfc_clear_attr (¤t_attr); current_attr.external = 1; I don't think it makes sense to delete all previously defined attributes. This also allows for intrinsic foo external foo Ditto for gfc_match_intrinsic.
