In fact, our application is compiled on a lot of systems with gcc (<4 for all others) : linux (fedora5), solaris (sparc and sparcv9), HP-UX (PA-RISSC 32 and 32 bits) and we never had this problem before. So, on this linux system (centos4), it works when compiled with gcc 3.4, but not with gcc 4.2.1, that is why we are sure it must come from gcc 4.2.1! -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=34294
