When a nested function is compiled with -Wmissing-prototypes, the compiler
reports that the function lacks a prototype. A prototype with an `auto' storage
class silences the warning, but the usefulness of such a prototype is very
dubious.
The right solution seems to be to make the warning ignore nested functions
altogether.
