Ooooops..... Please ignore my previous msg. I have misunderstood for years that `-Bsymbolic' is passed directly to the linker. Now I understand you need to do -Wl,-Bsymbolic -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=37786
