In any case, 3.4.6 is unsupported now and it seems to work OK on 4.4.2 Unless you can show where it hangs and/or reproduce it on a current release it's unlikely anyone will look into this -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42733
