Looking at my buildlog, -nostdlib is used to link only some libraries, like libstdc++.so.6 itself, or libvtv, libsanitizer libraries, libcc1/libcc1plugin, libcilkrts, libgcj, libgcj_bc, libgij, libjvm, libgcj-tools, but certainly not when linking build/*, or gcov, or cc1, ...
