It seems like --disable-libssp has this side effect, yes. But that completely
removes libssp as far as I can tell, which is a different behaviour from the
automatic logic that happens with glibc.

Not sure if that has any difference in practice, though.

We can easily patch this. So consider this bug report a cosmetic feature
request to make things easier and more transparent for those that build gcc.
