The bad news is that a 2 day old gcc 16 cannot bootstrap
an up-to-date gcc.

The good news is that cc/c++ on FreeBSD (aka clang 19.1.7)
was able to bootstrap gcc. The only issue is that there
were 55 new regressions. I did not investigate these yet.

The better news is the freshly built gcc via clang was
able to bootstrap gcc, and the 55 new regressions are
no longer seen.

Finally, I do not have any hard numbers, but there appears
to be massive slowdown. I see if I can run a few benchmarks
to see whats going on.

So, yes, I think was conclude this is fixed with regards
to bootstrapping on FreeBSD.
