For the testcase in comment #12, you can reproduce the failure (ICE) with the additional option `-fno-expensive-optimizations` as that option basically brings us back to previous behavior before that change. So the full options needed now to produce the ICE is `-fno-tree-fre -fno-tree-dse -O3 -fno-expensive-optimizations`.
