No, you're definitely wrong here. The crippled version of GNU Emacs 22.1.1 from 2007 runs in Terminal and I am using it's compile command to build with. For example to search for a string, copy some text and paste it info another buffer. Just get used to GNU Emacs and you'll find more useful than a computer.
