I do not expect any serious development on x86 now - since it has been retired, perhaps Arm64 will be fixed - but that won't help any platform older than macOS 25 (if we're lucky) So, I am expecting that the ball is in our court for an implementation that works without needing such fixes; a design is under test and will appear on the aarch64 devt branch once it's had some local testing.
