First this whole "gcc -unknown" is PR 15303. Second I still think it is hard to get this correct as on darwin with some versions (really Apple's) of GCC accepted -no-cpp-precomp but newer ones (from both the FSF and Apple) don't accept it (though we what we will need a spec for warning about an option which has been removed and then PR 15303 can be resolved because resolving it currently will cause a bootstrap failure with starting with that version of GCC).
