MRS and Eric Botcazou objected strongly against not being able to
build a 1-stage GCC with --disable-bootstrap. And that's never going
to happen.One would hope that wouldn't, but what I heard was an objection against removing what's there now, namely the capability to bootstrap GCC and *just* GCC. In other words, to have a mode when you can do a bootstrap that does no more work than the present one does.
