ChoX11 is not actually compiled with -DNDEBUG, for no particular reason.
It does have an optional -DDEBUG, which turns on any printfs and such.

Ah, right. I thought you may be using the NDEBUG mechanism to generate debug/release builds and end up with different results for each.
