I have some training in mineralogy and crystallography though none in physical chemistry.
Gnome Crystal, as made available with Debian packages on Linux and particularly in Ubuntu should ship with a set of example files of lattice models for common salts and minerals and some organic species. This would help make it useful as a teaching tool, or to give an amateur like me some grist to experiment and learn with. Shipping an application that depends on a complicated input file with no examples is not good. I shall ask that Canonical make it policy that such programs supply example files. Bruce Salem
