First of all, the 6 finalists are selected from the leaderboard (top 20). You 
can see this under your orgs page.

Secondly, there is no set number of tasks to complete. The factors that go into 
consideration when selecting finalists, according to the contest rules, include 
"creativity, thoroughness, and quality of work." Essentially, although quantity 
is important, the above factors are the main points of consideration. 
Regardless, the amount of tasks completed varies from org to org - in some, the 
tasks are much shorter and require less time, whereas in others they take more 
time. As such, there is no general amount of tasks to become a finalist.
