Hello,

Just "upgraded" from Suse 8.2 to 9.3. During the upgrade encountered some gconf
-related messages. Had to ignore them to continue with the upgrade. Now a
number of applications don't start. After a couple of days of uninstalling,
reinstalling and googling, i think i've reached the end of my capabilities to
fix this. If you have any suggestions, or where to look for help please tell me.

    * Exact error messages from any applications.

No error messages. Things like Evolution, Firefox, Acrobat Reader simply don't
start.

    * Exact version of GConf 1 and GConf 2 that you have installed.

gconf-1.0.9-768

gconf2-2.10.0-5

    * Output of ps jaxwww | grep gconf.

12357 12358 6939 6939 ? -1 S 500 0:00 gconftool-2 -g
/desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility

    * Output of gconf-sanity-check-1 or gconf-sanity-check-2 if any.

Check 1 returns nothing.

Check 2 returns the following.

/opt/gnome/lib/GConf/2/gconf-sanity-check-2: symbol lookup error:
/opt/gnome/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_option_context_new

    * What operating system are you using, and what version of it.

Suse 9.3/2.6.11.4-21.7

    * What appears in the user.* syslog (see above for how to turn on user.*
syslog).

gconfd tries to start. Then:
