This is false.  This assumes that the ContextObject is being
transported across the wire and I don't think it's safe to make these
sorts of assumptions.

This is my only point.  There needs to a consistent, standard way to
write a COinS.  No, it doesn't matter which it is, but regexps,
XPaths, etc. would be much, much simpler if the author knows what to
look for.
