Andreas, The file exists. However, the GDAL 1.4 branch is no longer supported. The latest stable version is 1.8 although 1.7 is also supported. Why don't you use the 1.7 version. http://java.net/projects/imageio-ext/downloads/directory/Releases/Dependencies/GDAL/NativeLibraries/
