GDB 6.0 is very old.  It was released October 2003.

Maybe a newer version would be better.

All I can think is that if you built it yourself, maybe you gave the
wrong configure or compiler flags.  Also, it says it was configured for
AIX 5.1 but you say you are running AIX 6.1.  That seems weird.
