You can tell Geany to open files with a specified encoding in different ways: - force opening all files using a specific encoding (Preferences->Files) - add a hint at the beginning of mis-detected files to let Geany know how it should handle these files (http://geany.org/manual/#in-file-encoding-specification) - just save your files in UTF-8... >find it a bit misleading to see the encoding display at the bottom >when the text gets garbled when the text is actually in that encoding >(and decoded wrongly).
