Issue 701: Gears for Safari Beta installed but does not work

New issue report by paul.adams:
1. Download and install Gears for Safari Beta
2. Go to Google Reader, Google Docs or Remember the Milk
3. No online/offline options available
4. Using Firefox w/ Gears works OK for the same user logins.
Plugin and input managers are in the correct folders within /Library
Software:
Mac OS X 10.5.4
Safari 3.1.2 (Although, Gears first installed while Safari 4.0 Beta was
installed. Safari 4.0 uninstalled,
but still able to reproduce.)
