I am having a similar problem on Firefox 3.0.5, Gears 0.5.4.2 and Ubuntu
8.10. My
crash occurs seconds after clicking the alert "because you have gears
enabled...this
will take a few minutes" (paraphrased). After I click that I get 2-3
seconds, then
FF crashes.
