For me, Gears 0.5.36.0 (winxp/win32) is still causing problems even in Gmail.
In Gmail: While online for long periods, synchronization actually gets "stuck" and stops -- with the icon still showing online and synchronized. New mail still arrives, and it looks like everything's working fine until I realize sent mail items have been sitting in the Outbox for hours on end. Refreshing the page seems to unstick it, and it syncs all changes for the last day or so, but it's obnoxious to
have to keep making sure mail got sent.
