We discourage installing Gears from anywhere other than gears.google.combecause the ability to provide a secure and consistent user experience is based on giving regular software updates. Is your customer aware that after installing Gears for the first time, and syncing with a website, that the website will be able to run offline w/o needing a CD? To run a Gears application from a CD, however, is going to be tricky. The only way to do that would be to have a copy of the user files from Firefox/IE/Safari on the CD and then to copy them to the correct location on the PC. It generally makes the most sense to connect to the internet and synchronize the application.
Hope this helps, Ben On Tue, Sep 23, 2008 at 1:22 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > One of my customers needs an application that can be used on the web > but must also run from a CD, potentially without an Internet > connection.
