I had a lot of problems with Firebug and FF 3 and went back to FF 2 for my Gears work. The latest 1.2.1 Firebug that came out this week seems to be a vast improvement. I am now able to set breakpoints in the HTTPRequest callbacks without Firefox going pooof.
