Using Windows XP Home edition. I also noticed that my card reader
didn't function properly with Gears installed.  I was able to insert a
USB card reader which worked, but the one on my desktop didn't work.
I haven't had any more issues since removing Google Gears.  It may be
some conflict with other software that I have on my system.  I don't
know, but it caused serious interruptions for me.
