Hi Carter, Are you using a PC or a mobile device? If you are using PC, are you running the sample with plugged in connection or wifi? WIthout wifi, it will resort to use your IP address to approximate your location. And also perhaps you are on a corporate network, which is routing all traffic through an internet connection in NYC.
